Accessibility Statement
Redbridge Chamber of Commerce wants this website to work for everyone. Our members include disabled business owners, and we would rather know about a problem than leave it unfixed. So if something here does not work for you, please tell us.

What we are aiming for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA. These are the standards most UK organisations work to. However, we cannot claim full conformance yet, because parts of the site are still being built and tested.
What we have done so far
We built this site with accessibility in mind rather than adding it afterwards. In particular:
- Text and background colours meet the AA contrast minimum. Where our brand orange failed that test, we use a darker shade for text and links.
- You can use the whole site with a keyboard. Links and buttons show a clear outline when you reach them.
- A “skip to content” link appears when you press Tab, so you can jump past the menu.
- You can pinch to zoom and enlarge text on a phone. We do not block it.
- Headings run in order, so screen reader users can navigate by structure.
- Body text is set at 18 pixels with generous line spacing, and line length is capped to keep reading comfortable.
- Links are underlined in page content, so colour is not the only thing marking them.
- Buttons and links are large enough to tap accurately on a touchscreen.
Known problems
We are being straightforward about what still needs work.
The membership comparison table
Our membership table has six columns. On a phone, therefore, you have to scroll sideways to see all of it. You can do this with a keyboard as well as by swiping. Every tier is also described in full text below the table, so you do not need the table to get the information.
Our members portal
Membership sign-up and payments happen on a separate members portal, which runs on software we did not build. That portal currently stops you pinching to zoom on a phone, which does not meet the guidelines. We have raised this with the supplier. Meanwhile, if the portal is difficult for you to use, please call or email us and we will complete your membership for you.
Testing still to do
We have tested this site with a keyboard and with automated checking tools. We have not yet tested it with screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOver. As a result, there may be problems we have not found.
Telling us about a problem
If you find something that does not work, please contact us. It helps if you can tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, and what went wrong. We will reply within five working days, and we will tell you what we plan to do about it.
If you need information from this site in another format, just ask. For example, we can send you a page by email, read it to you over the phone, or provide a large-print version.
How this site was built
