350 miles for Help for Heroes

On Sunday 12th June 2022, I am off to France to take part in Help4Heroes signature Bike ride known as The Big Battlefield Bike Ride.  This is not only a physical challenge but an emotional and historical journey.

We will be covering 350 miles over 5 days, riding from Nieuwpoort to Compiegne via Ypres, Arras, Amien and St Quentin.  The route takes us down the whole British Sector of the Western Front of the Great War.  I will be riding with 155 other cyclists including some of our wounded ex-service personnel with the aim of raising in excess of £1m between us for this worthy cause.

This is not about wars or the reasons why, but for the wounded service men and women who put their lives on the line to defend our freedom and democracy and now find their life changed by physical and mental injuries.  The body bags stopped coming back long ago, but those with physical and mental scars live on and continue to need our support and we mustn’t forget them.  They will continue to need help and assistance for many years to come, whether that be providing adaptations for daily living, specialised sports equipment, or the provision of therapy for PTSD and other mental health issues to the injured and their families, thus allowing them to live as normal a life as possible – so every £1 you give really does count – I have seen it first-hand.

As I write our brave service personnel are again putting themselves on the front line close to the Russian border in case hostilities escalate – who knows what help they will need should that happen.

Covid has been challenging for all of us.  Fundraising like this was put on hold from 2020 which in turn has had a huge impact on the Charity’s income and ability to support those most in need.

I have self-funded the cost of this trip, so 100% of any money donated or raised will go to directly Help4Heroes.

Thank you for your support

It would be fantastic if you are able to sponsor me, even if it is only £1, for this very worthy cause by clicking the link here:  Sponsor Kevin
