From Saturday 1 October until Friday 30 December, Tower Bridge will be closed to all traffic, while the City of London Corporation carry out major essential maintenance works.
The bridge will be closed from the junction of Tower Bridge Road and Queen Elizabeth Street on the south side, to the A100 Tower Bridge Road and East Smithfield junction on the north side.
Roads in the surrounding area will be busier than usual. A signed diversion route will be in place, via London Bridge northbound and via Southwark Bridge southbound. The Congestion Charge will not apply for journeys made via the signed direction of travel. Signed suggested alternative routes for cyclists will be in place. Pedestrians will be able to cross the bridge as normal for all but three weekends. While we will try to maintain a good service, some buses will be on diversion or will stop short of their destination.
Please allow more time for your journey. For detailed travel advice, including a map of the diversions and alternative routes, visit tfl.gov.uk/tower-bridge-closure
