A damp Thursday evening in the City of London, but the contingent from Redbridge Chamber of Commerce are undaunted – they are off on a pub tour of the City’s finest establishments led by Vic Norman.
A walking tour around the banking district, down to the Thames and back to Liverpool Street, regaled along the way with local history, stories from London’s past and the lineage of the hostelries visited.
There was time to sample the wares on offer in each of the taverns visited and enough walking between these stops to enable us all to feel virtuous in taking exercise that is undoubtedly good for our health. (We all hoped that the exercise might mitigate the less healthy effects of the alcohol!)
It was an enjoyable evening with an eye-opening view of previously familiar London streets. Vic was an excellent tour guide and has a variety of London walking tours on offer, including a foodie walk, which we may well sample in the future.
