Woolwich Ferry Closure Information

Dear Customer,

From 6 October until late December 2018, the Woolwich Ferry will be closed while an upgrade programme is underway.

We are replacing the 55-year-old ferries with two brand new vessels, which are suitable to operate in London’s Low Emissions Zone, are fuel efficient and more reliable.

These vessels require a new high-tech auto mooring system to be installed, which will berth the vessels using magnetic technology. During this installation and the demolition of the existing structures, the service will need to be suspended.

We advise drivers to use alternative crossings and, as they are subject to a number of height, weight and width restrictions, please check before you travel. You can also check the traffic conditions on tfl.gov.uk/trafficnews or follow @TfLTrafficNews on Twitter.
